I'm a database developer and lifetime Girl Scout interested in making an impact. I've been lucky to volunteer my tech skills for a few great nonprofits and I hope to help others find similarly rewarding opportunities.

I helped with the January 2011 NYC GiveCamp (www.givecamp.org) and support Catchafire.org, a web-based service to help professionals volunteer their skills and nonprofits and social enterprises access skills-based volunteers.

Hi Vanessa, Welcome to Ladies Who Code! I'm a huge fan of GDI, and have been a TA. Also, I think Developers for Good has a phenomenal mission. You're just connecting people in so many awesome ways! We're glad to have you. As a fellow Rubyist, I'm with you on the beautiful simplicity of the language. I've never loved a backend language before Ruby. We've got several avid Python(istas?), too. Ultimately, I think people pick languages that help them build most efficiently. Hope to see you soon!
