Introduction
I am a recently retired web app architect and DB designer (in past 10 years I designed & oversaw dev of web-based ERP & CRM systems). I would like to help support application of technology to support mass political involvemnt, better education, etc.
What kind of technologist are you? Or if you represent a social mission organization, what's it called and what are your goals?
Re. technology: I have 15 years of in-depth experience in the design of both large and small web and database based applications. Re. promotional/marketing: I have successfully created partnerships/alliances to support both commercial and non-profit initiatives (from sales/marketing to operations management). Re. Social Initiatives: I have conceived and implemented international youth understanding projects involving tens of thousands of US and international students. I have also developed programs for promoting educational motivation. Finally, I am concerned about widespread lack of knowledge, understanding and even interest among my fellow Americans making them susceptible to easy political manipulation. Goal: I would like to apply my skills and experience to help efforts that would improve our society and especially improve the ability of the masses to participate intelligently in the democratic process that determines the future of our society.
Are you currently working on any projects that use technology for social good?
I am thinking about several projects I might be interested in reviving, but would be interested in exchanging ideas with any others interested in making a positive difference.
